This walk starts in the Ballston area of Arlington and goes throught the many parks of Arlington.

| Start Point: | Second Floor, National Science Foundation Bldg., 4201 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA. 22030 Location Map The start point is in a room containing an ATM machine. This room is visible through the glass walls from the hallway on the southern side of the building near the skyway connecting the NSF building with Ballston Common Mall. |
| Hours: | Monday - Friday 7AM to 5PM, Saturday - Sunday 8AM to 4PM. Walks must be completed in daylight. |
| Distances/Trails: | The 10KM trail begins and ends in a commercial office complex, but most of the trail passes through pleasant neighborhoods and parks on sidewalks and paved paths. The trail includes paths along two small streams and through a shopping mall. There is an optional route around the mall for walkers with dogs. It includes a few natural surface trails through parks which may pose some difficulties for wheelchairs, but should be suitable for strollers. The trail is rated 1+. An alternative 10-KM trail rated 2+ through nearby neighborhoods is available for those who want some variety. Only one IVV credit stamp is available regardless of which trail you walk. A shorter 5KM alternative is also available. |

| Fees: | The fee for IVV credit only is $3. Fee for IVV credit and a B award will be $4. |
| Stipulations: | Pets must be under control at all times and must be picked up after. Pets are not allowed in the start point. Restrooms, water, and food will be available at the start point and along the trail. |

From the west from the Capital Beltway via I-66: Take the Capital Beltway to exit 45 (if driving from the north or west) or 49B (of driving from the south) to head east on I-66. {Note: there is a minimum 2 persons per vehicle during the weekday rush hours from 6:30 am to 9am eastbound and 4 to 6pm westbound. At all other times there are no restrictions on ridership.} From I66, take Exit 71, Glebe Road/Fairfax Dr. Follow the exit ramp onto Fairfax Drive for 0.4 miles. Turn right at the second stoplight to head south on Glebe Road for 0.4 miles. Turn left at the second stoplight on Glebe to go into the Ballston Commons Shopping Mall garage. ** From the west from the Capital Beltway via US-50: Take the Capital Beltway to Exit 50, US-50/Arlington Blvd and head east towards Arlington. Continue east on US-50 for 3.2 miles, bearing right to exit the road onto a ramp leading to Falls Church and Alexandria via VA-7 and VA-338. At the stoplight at the top of the ramp, continue straight across VA-7 and then immediately bear left, following the signs to VA-613 and Clarendon to head east on Wilson Blvd. Continue on Wilson for 2.4 miles to the intersection with Glebe Rd. Turn right to head southeast on Glebe for 0.2 miles, turning left at the next stoplight to go into the Ballston Commons Mall garage. ** From the east via I-66: Drive west on I-66. Take exit 71 (Glebe Road). Turn left at the end of the ramp. Continue south on Glebe for 0.8 miles. Turn left at the 5th stoplight on Glebe to go into Ballston Commons Mall garage. ** Once you have parked in the garage, use the elevators to go to the second floor of the mall. Head toward the center of the mall and then turn right to pass by the atrium and walk through the skyway to cross Wilson Blvd. The start point is next to the ATM in a small room to the left just inside the next building. On weekend mornings, the skyway across Wilson is sometimes blocked. If a gate blocks your way, simply leave the mall at street level and enter the NSF building through its main doors at 9th and Stuart Streets. Via Metro: Take the Orange Line to Ballston/Marymount U station. Exit station using the only set of escalators. Continue straight into the building before you. Bear right through the central hallway, go up the escalator, cross the skyway over one street, continue straight past the atrium of the NSF building. The start point is in a room with an ATM just before the skyway leading to the Ballston Commons Mall.
