| Start Point: | George Washington Mount Vernon Estate and Garden, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA 22121. 703-780-2000. The walk box is at the Information Desk in the Ford Orientation Building which you enter after you have paid your admission fee. |
| Hours: | Daily 8AM to 5PM, April through August; 9AM to 5PM, March, September, and October; 9AM to 4PM November through February. If weather is or may be inclement, call ahead to make sure the museum is open. |
| Distances/Trails: | The Estate Trail goes through public areas of the Mount Vernon Estate, passing by the mansion and many other restored buildings and through the Pioneer Farm and gardens. The West Gate trail leaves the estate and uses a hiker/biker trail and local streets to enjoy a special view of the mansion from the West Gate of the estate -- the formal entrance to the estate when General Washington lived here. The River Trail also leaves the estate but uses a hiker/biker trail to wander beside the Potomac River, with beautiful views of the estate's wharf and other riverfront sites. Walk the Estate trail alone or mix it with other trails to suit your fancy. |

| Fees: | All walkers must pay the daily entrance fee or show an annual pass in order to register for this walk. There is no charge to participate in this walk. The fee for IVV credit will be $ 3. Fee for IVV credit and the A award will be $7. |
| Stipulations: | Pets must be under control at all times and must be picked up after. Pets are not allowed in the start point. Restrooms, water, and food will be available at the start point and along the trail. |

From the south via US-1: Driving north along I-95, take Exit 161 (US-1 North). Drive north on US-1 from 7.1 miles, passing through Fort Belvoir. Turn right on VA-235 (Mount Vernon Memorial Highway) and drive for 3 miles to the traffic circle where Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway intersect. Turn left or continue halfway around the traffic circle to parking areas for Mount Vernon. From the northwest via I-95 from Springfield: Take I-95 south from the Springfield "mixing bowl" interchange to Exit 166A. Follow signs to the Fairfax County Parkway (VA-7100) toward Newington/Fort Belvoir. Drive on the Fairfax County Parkway for 3.2 miles to its end at US-1. Turn left to drive on US-1 for 1.8 miles to VA-235. Drive for 3 miles to the traffic circle where Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway intersect. Turn left or continue halfway around the traffic circle to parking areas for Mount Vernon. From the northeast via the George Washington Memorial Parkway: From Old Town Alexandria, drive south on Washington Street which turns into the George Washington Memorial Parkway as you leave Old Town. Drive south on the GW Parkway for 8 miles to the traffic circle where Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, and the George Washington Memorial Highway intersect. Turn right or continue halfway around the traffic circle to parking areas for Mount Vernon. |
