and start walking between 10am and 2pm both days. Finish by 5pm. |
| Distances/Trails: |
The
trail route takes you through Ft. Belvoir along sidewalks and
post roads on Ft Belvoir's North Post and past a cemetery. There
will be a 5K option also. The course is largely flat with some hills.
The slopes on the hills are not steep. The trail is rated 2 due
to hills. Weather conditions should have little effect on the trail
rating. Trail is unsuitable for wheelchairs. The trail can accomodate
strollers and wagons; however they may require portaging over road
curbs. Wear comfortable attire, a hat, and appropriate footwear.
Please bring extra water, sunglasses, sunscreen.

| Award: |
The
award for this event will be a colorful 4" diameter patch depicting
an accordionist and Charging Charlie playing the alto horn celebrating Octoberfest
(shown above). Awards from previous NVV events will also be available
for an appropriate fee. |
| Fees: |
There
is no charge to participate in these events. Pre-registration for
the event award and IVV credit received by September 18 is $ 6. Registration
for the award and credit at the event is $7. The fee for IVV credit
only is $3. |
| Pre-registration: |
The
pre-registration deadline is September 18, 2010. Fees cannot be refunded
for those who pre-register and do not walk. |
| Stipulations: |
Pets
must be under control at all times and must be picked up after.
Pets are not allowed on the fest area. Everyone is welcome. Smoking
is prohibited. Participants may walk, jog, or run. An adult must accompany
children under 12. Restrooms and water will be available at the start
point and at the checkpoint. Food and drink can be purchased at the
fest grounds. |

| Directions: |
From
every direction, take I-95 to the Newington/Ft. Belvoir Exit (166A).
Turn right onto Backlick Road, which turns into Fairfax County Parkway
(RT 7100). Continue east on Rt 7100 to Route 1. Turn left onto Route
1. Turn right on Pohick Road (1st traffic light) and enter Fort Belvoir via the Tulley
Gate.
From
the north and west. you can also take the Washington Beltway to
Exit 177, Route 1. Continue for about 8 miles until you see the
Tulley Gate on your left; Burger King is on your right.
