The next morning we got up and prepared to return the motorhome. It had been a wonderful five days, but we couldn't stay there forever. One thing that was stressed when I rented the motorhome was that it was to be returned "clean". We cleaned the floor, the toilet, the sink, the tables. We threw out all the food we wouldn't eat on the road. I took an inventory and found out that we had never gotten the pillows we were supposed to. I thought it was strange we didn't get pillows, but pillows are very private items.
We started out towards Jackson about 10 am. First stop was the airport to transfer our stuff to the car. I found a space near enough to the car and Emilie and I made many trips throwing stuff into the car. Emilie and Merry Weather were to stay in the car and straighten it out while I took the motorhome back. I filled the gas tank at a gas station right across the street from the rental place and then delivered the motorhome. I mentioned the pillows and they mentioned that I was supposed to bring the motorhome back washed --- on the outside. We called it a draw -- a credit for me and a charge for washing for them.
They gave me a ride to the airport where Emilie and Merry Weather were waiting. A quick stop for lunch and we were on our way east. Our next stop was Douglas, Wyoming. To get there we drove through the Bridger Teton National Forest which was not as photogenic as the Grand Tetons.
We passed by Casper, Wyoming, home of Vice President Cheney. We had planned on doing the volksmarch in Casper, but our late start made it difficult to walk there on the 11th. Douglas is to the east of Casper, so we would need to backtrack to the volksmarch on the 12th. The night of the 12th was our last definite motel stop, so we could change our plans and still walk in both Wyoming and Nebraska without walking two events in one day.
After the cool weather in Wyoming, it was getting hot and humid in the plains.
