As I mentioned earlier, the weather was getting hotter and this walk proven it. North Platte is a nice town built on the Platte River. The start point of the walk is a retirement hotel. After getting our start cards, we headed out on an historical real estate tour of the city. The directions are great because they identify almost every house we passed by with its style and year "Queen Anne, c 1935", "Victorian with Regency addition, c 1901". Emilie took pictures of every house while I pushed MW from tree to tree for shade.
After walking through the residential area, we walked through the center of town and by the bank where there was a Frederick Remington statue in the lobby. MW and I waited for Emilie outside. The temperature on the outside display said it was 97 degrees. I guess the humidity was almost that high. By that time I was getting tired of wearing wet clothes.
North Platte, NE, is a walk to do -- but in cooler weather.
From North Platte, we headed to Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska. We were going to do the walk in Sioux City, IA, but it was too far to drive there after completing the walk in North Platte. I was getting tired from the heat and the drive.
